| Bio: | Hi, I'm what is termed an "aspiring writer". I think this should more accurately be termed "aspiring to be published". I have been writing all my life but have not tried to be published until now. I have written children's stories and articles. I also have worked out the details of a fairly complex psychological thriller that I'm almost ready to start posting here. But what I'm really interested in doing right now is post a weekly column on a variety of subjects in an Erma Bombeck style. I loved reading her dearly because of her wonderful talent of making everyday life amusing and meaningful. Because let's face it- we might escape into a fantasy world novel where we are the main character- a spy, a navy seal, a scientist, doctor, lawyer, etc. with the most exciting life imaginable- but when we put the book down we still want to laugh (or cry)at the spilled milk, office antics, and flat tires of our wonderfully ordinary existence. I'm not sure which category this fits best in- I guess "Short Stories". I'm 44, engaged- with 4 grown children and 3 grandchildren. I have a boring day job that is sometimes hard to focus on when a rush of creative ideas are flowing (you know how that goes!) I'm really looking forward to reading and reviewing as much of my fellow writer's work, and I hope you'll return the favor for me :-) I'd love to one day have a syndicated newspaper column, as well as publish at least one best selling book that is made into a movie. This is the first step for me, and I'm eminently aware of my inexperience (so be direct but kind lol!), but I hope with a thick enough skin to really learn from the experience and opinions from all of you out there! |
