 | POLLY BRILLIANT'S WILD DANCE | nonimou | Novel | Humor | 2 | n/a | Aug 8, 2008 |
Summary:POLLY BRILLIANT’S WILD DANCE is a semi-fictional novel about a middle-aged Jewish woman — a female fusion of Zorba the Greek and Odysseus. From birth until age fifty-five, when she moves to Greece, her traveling companions have been disenchantment, restlessness, and internal conflict.
Polly’s journey propels us through Boston, Berkeley, Barcelona, Las Vegas, Athens, Mykonos, and Kythera.
After years of self-discovery and Greek influence, Polly masters the technique of self-love and acceptance while learning how to dance through life. She returns to the States, her home within, and the circle complete.

 | Speed and Death | Whalehead King | Short Story | Non-Fiction | 4 | 0.46 | Jun 29, 2008 |
Summary:More motorcycle observations. Not too cheery, but cheerful enough. Do I come across as being for or against motorcycles and recklessness in this piece? I tend to think I am 'Pro' but the subject matter leads one to think 'Con.' I do this every day, so I tend to take the risks in stride. Your input is welcome and will be incorporated in the final draft. Thank you.Chapters: |

Summary:A contest entry, not because I am enamoured with contests, but because who can't use fifty bucks? This isn't a snapshot of my authorial epiphany. That took too long and is pretty boring. This 'story' may be too. Any tightening suggestions will be appreciated since this is basically just a slip down the stream of my conciousness. This is the first (and probably last) time I have written directly with the site's software, so if something looks egregiously wrong, let me know. Thanks and...Cheers! WKChapters: |

Summary:I know, 3,500 words. I think it may be a little too long. How does this flow? Do I linger too much on the delicious details? Jake paralysis is a real medical condition, as a cursory google will prove. Would footnotes and citations help or hinder this piece? I am looking for a snappy title.
I have already made a few minor word changes since posting this piece, but any suggestions are welcome.Chapters: |

Summary:I am partially German and I am partially Dutch. I am partially Deutsch. None of that matters. I am an American who writes. With thanks to the comments that inspired this revision. I feel I have gone off message, but not far off. I hate to rewrite anything, but a man has to do what a man has to do...Chapters: |

 | Biate Junker | Whalehead King | Short Story | Literary Fiction | 4 | 1.05 | Apr 8, 2008 |
Summary:I changed the name of our heroine from Mae, which is closer to the original to Biate, a woman's name for which I've always had a fondess. The added appeal is that the model does not have fond associations with this name. If I missed a spot where 'Biate' should have replaced 'Mae' pleae let me know. Thank you for indulgence. What is this about?Chapters: |
 | Dot Winkles | Whalehead King | Short Story | Literary Fiction | 7 | 1.74 | Mar 24, 2008 |
Summary:I prefer to think of this as semi-fiction. Though mostly folderol, it is written in a straight-faced, reportorial style. It could be considered hoax fiction in the spirit of P.T. Barnum without the bombast. Is this beleivable? I think so since it contains more than a kernel of truth. It is one of a series of food stories that take place in and celebrate Dorchester, Mass., the biggest and most diverse borough of Boston. I intend to publish the collection for local distribution come fast-approaching summer so I am interested if I am on the wrong track. Thank you.Chapters: |
