Summary:The book is the fictionalized story of the marriage, murder, and aftermath, of a real life Earl and his Countess, that happened in London in the seventies. I took the liberty of writing out the story of their lives. He was a man who had everything, as far as looks, lineage, connections, but was hampered by being a compulsive gambler, and wife abuser. She was in her turn emotionallly troubled, obsessed by her husband, and the failure of those in the class she had married into to accept her. I would like to know if its readable, well written, please all input is welceome, and I thank you in advance for it.Chapters: |

 | The Vampire Hunter | Born Writer | Short Story | Young Adult | 9 | 1.25 | Apr 10, 2008 |
Summary:This is really more for a middle grade audience and is a humorous tale. It's about one of those staple teen protagonists, Abbie (who happens to have an funny bodily issue), who is tired of being picked on by the school biatch, Dylan, and decides to give her a taste of her own medicine.
I wrote this for fun and I hope you like it. Feel free to comment at will. As any writer should, I can take it.Chapters: |
 | I Hate the Color Orange | jlew1973 | Short Story | Memoir | 9 | 1.12 | Apr 5, 2008 |
Summary:This is an autobiographical account of the effects of childhood sexual abuse on an adult survivor. The story is raw, and some details may be disturbing, but they are necessary. I normally do not write autobio pieces, so this story is very personal for me. I want feedback. I want to know how it makes the reader feels. My goal is for the reader to develop some understanding of the pain that abuse inflicts on the victim decades after the attack. I intentionally kept the story narrowly focused. It is purposely short and direct to make an emotional impact. It's impossible to examine the all the effects of such a crime on one's spirit, family, career, faith, and outlook of life. The story is not meant to be uplifting or inspirational. It's simply an account of a tragedy, and an unexpected consequence I've experienced.Chapters: |
 | The Ghost of the Hotel Orton | skipm624 | Novel | Mystery and Crime | 13 | n/a | Apr 2, 2008 |
Summary:A reporter, recently relocated from New York to Wilmington, North Carolina, and researching the fact that Willie Mosconi once played pool in a local bar, comes across a ghost story about three patrons who died in a fire at the Hotel Orton in 1949 and reportedly still haunt the bar (now called Orton's) that was in its basement. He discovers, though, that newspaper reports on the fire show no indication of any deaths in the fire and wonders about the validity of the ghost story.
Shooting pool at Orton's one night, the reporter is physically approached by the Ghost of the Hotel Orton, who proceeds to tell him the story of what really happened that night, asking the reporter to more or less set the record straight.Chapters: |
