Summary:Annie Peregrine and her cousins are spending the summer at their grandmother's 100 year old home in Glenden Falls, NY. One hot, stuffy afternoon while cleaning out the attic, the trio accidently discovers an old clock - centuries old, covered up with a sheet...and still ticking. They climb into the cabinet of the clock and are taken on a wild ride through time, beginning with trying to save their ancesters from a sinking ocean liner, and ending in a desperate attempt to stop the assassination of Andrew Johnson on the night Lincoln was killed. Annie discovers many things on her journey, including the secret that the Peregrine family has kept since time began, and that she is the next Guardian of the Gate.
I'd like any kind of feedback on structure, story..whatever. I appreciate the time anyone takes to review my work, and look forward to making it better!Chapters: |
 | Mrs. Brown's Cat | Rick Mann | Short Story | Science Fiction | 10 | 2.39 | Mar 27, 2008 |
Summary:"Mrs. Brown's Cat" is my first story, written in the 1970's. It is characteristic of my beginning writing skills--or lack of them. Several months ago, I edited the story, taking out a third of it, mostly in the beginning, during Kevins first trip into the past. I don't know if it would fly in today's market. Make suggestion if you think it would, and where to send it. Chapters: |

 | Archives: Lost in Time | Rick Mann | Short Story | Science Fiction | 7 | 1.70 | Oct 8, 2007 |
Summary:This is a short story of almost 5000 words I am posting in two parts. I wrote it in 1994 and only recently corrected some of the grammar. I got the idea from the collapse of a walkway during a tea dance at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City in 1981. The collapse killed 114 persons and injured more than 200 in the giant ballroom.Chapters: |
 | STATIC MAYHEM | Sherman_Bierce | Novel | Other | 18 | n/a | Aug 18, 2006 |
Summary:Two forces drive Harrison Cody to trek from New England to Chicago on foot: a bewildering pixie named Glimmer, and Claudia, the voice on the radio who may be the only other human still alive.
Static Mayhem, a mainstream novel that weaves elements of Fairy Tale, Science Fiction and Horror into a contemporary setting, tells his story. Harrison's journey reveals a North America whose human population has been replaced by dinosaurs, demons and dragons, and whose infrastructure has been reduced to a smattering of buildings holding artifacts from Earth's past and future. For all the surreal obstacles of his environment, his greatest challenge proves to be the care of two young survivors, separately orphaned and in clear need of a parent. Their eventual arrival in Chicago is punctuated by his arrest, and after clearing himself and establishing a life in this new cradle of civilization, he finds that his unanswered questions pale in importance to his new family.
