I'd like any constructive edits, particularly ones that will help me pinpoint weaknesses and improve my writing. Also, I need feedback on the title. I love and hate it. What do you think?

Accused of attempted murder and of setting a small hair fire, 17-year-old Fancy Adams is about to start her senior year of high school with some old “friends.” The book opens in Texas in then moves Fancy back to New Jersey – where she has some unfinished business. When Fancy left New Jersey three years earlier, her best friend, Tiffany Jewel – a professional bad driver - was supposed to “keep an eye” on Fancy’s boyfriend, Billy. Instead, Tiffany helps herself to Billy – never expecting Fancy to really return. Fancy does return, with sugar on her lips and vengeance in her heart. As their senior year progresses, Fancy finds new love while systematically destroying Tiffany’s love life - and her ability to collect on a few outstanding insurance claims - only to find that Cosmic Justice rules in the end. The book is a sarcastically witty glimpse into the devious minds of teenage girls and is the first in a planned series of three. It is slightly autobiographical.

What she doesn't expect is the third guy entering the picture: a sarcastic fellow traveler who discovers her secret and becomes her unlikely confidante. Meanwhile her best friend scares herself witless ghost-hunting in Edinburgh's medieval streets, and Eva's boyfriend gets it into his head to come visit without advance warning. It will be a miracle if Eva can leave Scotland with all her relationships, and her sanity, intact.

Types of feedback? Any! I'm still tinkering with this story, but hope to get it posted this year and shape it into the type of Young Adult novel that adults enjoy too.

This is my first novel and I'm writing it initially for the Young Adult reader. Please let me know if you think it works for that genre; especially the prelude, I'm not sure how well the narrator works here. This is my entry into the Strongest Start Novel competition. Unfortunately, two of the first 3 chapters are also the shortest. I figured a lot will change after I get feedback from the fantastic community here!

Finding the truth is like chasing butterflies, and 16-year-old Nova Harris is about to find out that nobody is exactly who they seem to be. Nova was content living in the protective bubble and musical haven she created with her best friend, Alex Pace. Nova’s living situation wasn’t nearly as pretty as the houses in her upscale neighborhood and being a 15-year-old junior wasn’t winning Alex any popularity points. Their plan at the start of junior year was simple. Stick together, get jobs, fix up Alex’s car, and embark on a cross-country road trip the day after graduation. Alex always said the open road was their artistic portal. Everything changes when Alex finally stands up to the belligerent boyfriend of Nova’s stepsister. Alex’s wounds don’t match the severe beating he takes and he refuses Nova’s help. It brings out a side of Alex she’s never seen before; one that causes him to fall in with a ‘rough’ crowd and cut her out of his life, leaving Nova to face the torment of her stepsister and her stepsister’s boyfriend alone. After Brandon Slater, a mysterious boy with a bad reputation, comes to her defense, he tells Nova that her deadbeat father sent him to look out for her, but insists that telling her why would put her in danger. Determined not to rely on anyone but herself, Nova fights back and uncovers an impossible truth about her family and the reason behind her best friend’s behavior. But it doesn’t end there. Something is slowly unraveling inside of Nova. Something nobody saw coming, least of all herself.
