Gray is a Fine Color for God

This is my third entry in the ongoing short fiction competition, where you have to use one of the prompts for inspiration. I chose, "once, I believed in God," using it very loosely. I have exactly three hours before I have to send this in. If anyone can give me any feedback as to whether this works, I'd be grateful. Currently I'm tied for fourth out of 27 contestants.
